Prospective Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Associates,
I appreciate your interest in my laboratory. As you can see from the web site, I moved to Michigan State University in 2001 as a Hannah Distinguished Professor. My academic appointment is in both the Departments of Food Science & Human Nutrition and Microbiology & Molecular Genetics. My laboratory is in the NFSTC. The lab is working on a variety of projects on the population genetics, molecular evolution, and emergence of bacterial pathogens.
For prospective graduate students, I hope you will seriously consider evolutionary microbiology at Michigan State University. There are several outstanding graduate programs for students interested in all aspects of microbial systems including those Departments of Microbiology, Food Science and Human Nutrition, as well as in Genetics and the Center for Microbial Ecology.
If you are interested in joining the lab group, please contact me or come visit Michigan State University. I anticipate several new postdoc and graduate research assistantships will be immediately available.
Sincerely,
Thomas Whittam
