Farm Lane Construction Project
March 2008 - Summer 2009
The New Farm Lane: Bridge to the Future construction project will change the campus landscape in that vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle traffic will move under the railroad tracks rather than crossing over the tracks. One underpass will be located north of Service Road at the Canadian National (CN) Railroad and the other south of Incinerator Road at the CSX Railroad.

Starting Thursday, May 22, Farm Lane will be closed from Mt. Hope Road to Wilson Road. In addition, Trowbridge Road will be closed from the east side of the Lot 48E driveway, south of Natural Resources, through the Trowbridge Road and Farm Lane intersection.

Service Road is also closed from the Laundry parking lot (Lot 88), east to the Lewis Landscape Arboretum parking lot (Lot 101). And the intersection of Farm Lane and Service Road is closed.

All roads closed as part of the Farm Lane project are expected to reopen in the summer of 2009.

How traffic is affected

For employees and visitors wishing to access the Plant Science Greenhouses (Lot 47) and the Food Toxicology Building (Lot 53), access will be provided through a temporary driveway off Farm Lane, just south of the Wilson Road intersection.

While Farm Lane and Service Road are closed, motorists can detour construction using the following roads in and around campus: Harrison Road, Mt. Hope Road, Hagadorn Road, Wilson Road, Bogue Street, Red Cedar Road, Trowbridge Road and Shaw Lane.

The commuter lot (Lot 89), on the corner of Mt. Hope Road and Farm Lane, will remain open at all times during construction. NOTE: CATA bus service to the commuter lot is currently suspended. Service will resume for fall semester on August 18, 2008

Commuter lot users who want to continue walking and biking to campus can go through the Ag Expo site (located northwest of Lot 89) to Harrison Road north to campus. Please note that the Ag Expo will not be lit.
